Hello,
Brainrider!
Slime King: Origins
Slime King: Origins is a fast-paced RPG-bullet hell hybrid that I developed solo in just one month for the 2024 RPG Game Jam—where it won first place! The game follows a dethroned king who has been cursed into the form of a slime, forced to battle through his own castle to reclaim his throne.
From programming and game design to art and music, I handled every aspect of development, ensuring a cohesive vision and polished experience within the jam’s tight timeframe. Winning the competition was a rewarding recognition of the work I put in, and I’m excited to keep building on the ideas explored in this project.
Incendiary Literature was a final project done for the VISA370 course at UBC, a course about Artist Books! I wanted to tell a story using a magic scroll. To tell this story, I needed to model and 3D print custom type faces to be used in a printing press! The creation of this project was a great synthesis between what I had learned at VFS’s Game Design program, and what I had learned at UBC up to that point.
INCENDIARY LITERATURE
THE META NARRATIVE
In a world where magic is highly controlled, and the empire owns the only printing press, a young goblin hedge wizard breaks into the printing room to mass create “fireball” scrolls. Since magic scrolls require specific magic runes, the goblin has to create custom types for each magic rune! He then packs the scroll with as much information as possible, making it a piece of propaganda, as well as an instructional manual on how to cast the spell.
